Day 19: Puzzled

Casablanca was unexpectedly great, so we decided that one more movie-themed idea would be fun. When my Aunt Opal passed, we were given her 1000-piece puzzle of Breakfast At Tiffany's, which just happens to be one of Ellaine's favorites. Having never solved a puzzle together, let alone a 1000-piece monster, we got to work. It seemed like a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon and, I mean, how hard could this be?

Edged and starting
to take form
The answer is very hard. Like a real pain in the tush. Turns out that this puzzle was cut special, so the corners of each piece didn't always line up. Meaning you really have to work on focusing on shapes and lining up the colors. There were also three separate sections of white. Each piece offered nothing for context of who their proper parter was.

To quote Sir-Mix-A-Lot, this new thing-a day is not about "Hitting it and quitting it." So we knew that giving up would not be an option. We found some good tunes to throw on, got ourselves ice cold lemon water, and fit each and every piece in it's proper place.
Can you tell?
Ellaine was much better at this than I was. I don't know if it was her patience or just that she is so much better at seeing Cappuccino-Mocha apart from Mojave Brown (#s 1 & 3 to the right which I am still certain are the exact same color).

Either way, it was a fun, sometimes frustrating experience. Maybe next time, we won't stake so much on getting it in a single day and savor the experience a little more. Either way, I loved spending the time with Ellaine and the feelings of triumph that we got with each and every match we made. Next up, will actually be sitting down to watch the movie like we have been discussing for the last four years.
