Day 20: 4th of July Housewarming

Happy Housewarming to our friends, Annette and Joel! We were able to celebrate the 4th with our friends in their first home.

We've known Annette and Joel for nearly two years at this point. Annette and I work together at the hospital, and bonded quickly upon meeting. About a year after moving to CT from FL, Annette and Joel had Ollie, the happiest little guy around. So, when they invited us over to celebrate the holiday with them and a few other friends from work, we gladly accepted!

Upon arriving, we mixed our drinks and went to the pool. We were able to see Ollie's first time going in the water; it was short-lived, though, because the water was too cold! It was the first time in nine months that I'd seen Ollie cry... he really is the happiest baby. After catching some sun, we went back to the condo, where we indulged in a feast that could've fed a football team. Really!

Joel, as grill-master, truly outdid himself: a few dozen wings, fall-off-the-bone ribs, 1/2 pound burgers, and flank steak... for eight people. EIGHT. Being a self-proclaimed lover of all meats, I was in heaven! But, after the 1/2 pound burgers, I had to throw in the towel. I was stuffed! Between Joel's grilled meats, Cole's pasta salad, and Chanty's baked beans and salad, I couldn't fit in any more food!

Cole and I say, on a daily basis, how lucky we are to have such wonderful friends... friends from elementary school, middle school, high school, college, work, and everywhere in between. We truly are blessed, and we know it.
