Day 29: Concert in the Park

Elizabeth Park holds summer concerts on Wednesday nights from June to August. Music styles featured include swing, salsa, and soul amongst others. This past week was zydeco, a Louisiana style of music that I still can't fully describe after listening to and reading about it.

After a night out a few weeks ago, my friends (and co-workers), Katie and Chanty, wanted to plan our next outing. We decided on a concert at Elizabeth Park and picked this week to go. We recruited Jen, another friend and co-worker, to join us. We decided on the concert featuring Zydeco Hogs, a band out of Connecticut. None of us had ever heard of the band or this style of music before and were intrigued.

We camped out among, what seemed like, a thousand other guests. We brought blankets, sandwiches from Hall's Market, chips, wine, and dessert from Truffles. The four of us caught up on life and work, and had lots of fun. Kids and adults around us were dancing along to songs about cornbread.

After his softball game, Cole  joined us at the tail-end of the concert for some dessert and gossip, too... so I guess we'll count this as our new and different thing for the day.
