On our third date (within a week of meeting), Cole invited me to meet his friends and enjoy the fireworks show in downtown Hartford. I admitted back then that it wasn't the best fireworks show I'd ever seen, although I had one of the best nights ever. Sadly, Riverfest was canceled this year due to budget cuts, and we thought we might not see any live fireworks this year.
Yesterday, Cole and I enjoyed fireworks over the water for the first time during Sailfest, minutes away from where we exchanged vows nearly a year ago. Our friends, Risa and Jason, invited us to enjoy the show with them amongst family and friends. If you'll recall from four years ago, Jason taught me how to parallel park during 60 Things. Even though I haven't used my parallel parking skills since Jason taught me, I'm glad that I know I can parallel park if I absolutely have to someday.
We enjoyed drinks by the water, lighting sparklers with the kids, and exchanging stories with our friends over the course of the night. As we sat in the parking lot watching the show, I told Cole how this was the first time that I truly felt I enjoyed fireworks. Thank you Risa and Jason for inviting us to join you! We look forward to the Turkish restaurant with you next!
